Reinder Jochems, christened  Steggerda, Weststellingwerf 28-10-1736, son of Jochem Geerts.  
On 16 September 1758 the marriage banns of Reinder Jochems and Trijntje Jans, both of
Old-Berkoop, were given.   The first proclamation was given 17 September 1758, the second on
18 February 1759 and the third on 25 February 1759.  On 25 February 1759 Reinder Jochems and
Trijntje Jans were married.  It is interesting to note that the proclamations were not on
consecutive weeks.  It is also interesting to note that for the other marriages the couples are
"wettig ingeschreven" and "wettig getrouwd".  The word "wettig" is not used in the banns or the
marriage of Reinder and Trijntje.  Was she too young and didn't have parents' consent?  On 12
May 1794 Reinder Jochems and Trijntje Jans, after having done confession of faith, were
accepted as members in Nieuwehorne in the presence of the elders Imke Jeips and Jan Meeuwis. 
Reinder Jochems appeared before the council of Schoterland on  18 December 1811 in order to
declare his last name to be NEEF.  Reinder died in Nieuwehorne at five in the afternoon on 4
January 1812.  He died at house No.22 in Nieuwehorne.  His wife Trijntje Jans died at six in the
morning on 29 October 1819 at house No. 22 in Nieuwehorne as well.  She was said to be 89 at
time of death.  There is some question about her age.  Suggestions are that she was only 81 at
death.

    Jan Bartels (de Vries).  She probably died before 1811.
2. Jochem b. Nieuwehorne 23-7-1761, c. there 2-8-1761.  He 
    died on 29-8-1809 was buried in Nieuwehorne on 5-9-1809.  He married in Nieuwehorne on 
    20-7-1783 with  Jantje Jans (VONK).
3. Jan b. Nieuwehorne 21-10-1763, c. there 16-11-1763.  Jan died in 
    Steggerda 24-4-1850.  He married in Nieuwehorne on 31-8-1794 with Antje Keimpes (VAN 
    DEN AKKER)
4. Berend b. Nieuwehorne 14-2-1766, c. there 2-3-1766.  He died 
    in Nieuwehorne on 16-10-1829.  He married on  6-1-1788 with Jetske Everts.
5. Roort, b. Nieuwehorne on 5-8-1769, c. there 27-8-1769.  Probably died in infancy.
6. Klaas b. Nieuwehorne 10-6-1771, c. there 30-6-1771.  He died 
    in Nieuwehorne on 16-3-1838.  He married on 20-12-1795 with Vroukjen Jans
7. Wobbigje b. Nieuwehorne 19-2-1774, c. there 3-3-1774.  She 
    died in Weststellingwerf on 1-1-1853.  She married in Nieuwehorne on 18-12-1796 with 
    Minne Gerbens (de Hoop)
